Golden Week in Shanghai. I went on a ‘breakfast food tour’, in one of the eldest area of the city.

On the menu: scallion pancakes, xiaolingbao of course, soy cakes of all shapes and textures, new fruit I didn’t even know existed, glutinous rice stuffed into lotus roots, fried cakes with taro syrup…. All spread over 3 hours, luckily.

This city is brilliant for curious foodies.
